When my husband and I bought our farmhouse and started converting the attached byre, we began looking for flagstones which would fit with the period of the original building. When I saw the photographs on the Farmhouse Flagstones website I fell in love. They showed the exact effect I was looking for. Although I looked for an alternative closer to home or at a lower cost, I couldn’t find any other company which had such authentic looking flagstones within the same price range.
Since my first communication with Mark, he was friendly, patient and very generous in sharing his vast experience and knowledge. Whenever I had questions I was never made to feel that I was bothering him but instead he took the time to explain the process of how to achieve the look I wanted.
Initially we planned to lay the flagstones only in the kitchen and living room but in the end decided to run them through the full ground floor. I must admit that I was nervous about placing such a large order without visiting the showroom and relying only on photographs and testimonials. However, my fears were unfounded. The flagstones arrived well packaged on separate pallets – each numbered so that we knew which were for each part of the house.
Throughout the process of laying the floor, Mark was still on hand to provide advice to our tilers Steven and Aiden (SMG Tiling, Cumnock who were also fantastic!).
Mark has been so supportive throughout the entire process and his product is beautiful. Everyone who visits our home comments on the floor and how great it looks.
I can’t recommend Farmhouse Flagstones highly enough. Thanks Mark!
I looked for a long time for the right material for the internal floors in our grade 2 listed farmhouse. I loved the look of the Farmhouse Flagstones product on the website so I got some samples and visited the factory.
Mark was helpful, friendly, easy to deal with and did what he said he would do. The flagstones go down easily as they are all the same thickness and the combination of Mark’s Antique Stain and a sealer has given just the look I wanted. The different stone moulds give a great effect and I would certainly use again and recommend Farmhouse Flagstones.
I was very pleased with your friendly service. What made the difference for us was to come to your workshop to see the ranges of different moulds and the colouring that can be achieved to get the finish we wanted. We ended up taking both indoor flags and outdoor flags of the same design - but used the antique oil to colour the indoor flags to give the rustic finish we wanted.
We came across Farmhouse Flagstones online and questioned whether their product could be as good as it looked online, for the advertised price. We therefore visited Mark at his workshop and we were pleased to see where the product was made. After our visit, Mark sent us sample flags with different finishes and once we decided on our finish, it took a relatively short time for our order to be made. Due to a delay with our house build, we had to delay delivery of the flags, which was no issue for Farmhouse Flagstones.
Mark and his team were always relaxed, supportive and knowledgeable. They facilitated everything we wanted to achieve and we could not recommend them higher. Our flagstones look like they have been there for years which is exactly what we were trying to achieve. We would use Farmhouse Flagstones again and we highly recommend their service and product.
We only placed a small order of 10m2 with Farmhouse Flagstones but with a builder booked who didn’t seem to know what he was doing, Mark emailed me promptly, and several times a day, for a few weeks offering help and advice, irrespective of the fact our order was so small.
When it transpired that not only did the builder not know what he was doing but also grossly overcharging us, Mark kindly offered to come and do the job for us, not only saving us quite a lot of money but also doing it really promptly and they did an absolutely fantastic job in a day, rather than the 4 days previously quoted by our builder.
We cannot recommend Farmhouse flagstones highly enough, the support and service was brilliant and then to come and do the job as well, and to make such a brilliant job in a hall with fiddly curved stairs and very uneven floors is amazing.
Last but not least... the Old Mill Heritage Grey flagstones we had look fantastic and totally in keeping with our 500 year old house and are really impressive.
It’s really refreshing to find such knowledgable, honest, hardworking and decent craftsmen.
For several weeks my wife Tina visited numerous tile showrooms in a vain attempt to find an authentic grey/black flagstone appearance for our kitchen floor.
On returning home I searched the internet for “interior flagstones”, and that’s how we came to find Mark at “Farmhouse Flagstones”. The Classic Ebony was exactly what Tina had been searching for.
The flagstones were installed by our local builder, and Mark was always happy to provide the advice and experience needed to complete that “old farmhouse kitchen” appearance.
We have a unique product, manufactured by a great craftsman, who provides outstanding service at a competitive price.
Just a quick email to let you know how impressed we are with the “Flagstones” now that they have been sealed and waxed.
They are lying next to some slate flagstones that must easily be several hundred years old – it is absolutely impossible to tell the new from the old – good work!
“I found both the product quality and service offered by Mark at Farmhouse Flagstones superior to other suppliers. The fact that the flagstones can be colour-matched to existing stonework made the product look extremely authentic and a good fit within a period property. The finished product has the appearance of genuine 200 year-old stone but with the benefit of easy fitting and the potential to use underfloor heating for extra cosiness.
Even though we are based at the other end of the country, Farmhouse Flagstones ensured delivery of our stones was on time and at an extremely reasonable cost. I would have no hesitation in recommending them to anyone who was after that authentic period look for their home, without the hassle and extra cost of sourcing real stone.”
“It’s a very rare thing to find a unique product, quality workmanship and excellent personal service at such a competitive price.
As part of a refurbishment and extension of our C18 cottage, we wanted a quality and totally authentic look for our floors both inside and out, as well as being compatible with underfloor heating.
The “Old Mill” flags we chose surpassed our expectations in all these areas.
However it was the attention to detail and level of service that really set Farmhouse Flagstones apart from other flooring suppliers we considered.
We couldn’t be more delighted with our choice.”
“In this day and age of dreadful customer service and terrible after sales care, it has been remarkably refreshing to find a company like Farmhouse Flagstones. From the moment we enquired about the suitability of the flagstones through to the last day of advice when laying them, Mark has been thoroughly professional and remarkably helpful throughout. Never did it seem like the reams of emails we sent were too much and he answered every one promptly and with fabulous ideas and advice. He even sent more flagstones to us when some were broken in transit – a joy to deal with!!!
Regarding the product itself, every single person who has walked into our (nearly) finished kitchen have commented on the stylish but rustic look that the flagstones have created. They have been easy to work with and look SO good. It is hard to believe that we were considering a slate floor when these are warmer, better finished and much more original.
Mark and Farmhouse Flagstones are clearly passionate about their product and with every right. They are individually made and have that personalised look about them, with each one having their own pattern, thickness and colour. We are extremely pleased with our Old Mill flagstones and genuinely believe that we couldn’t have found better flooring if we had tried. Thanks Farmhouse Flagstones and Mark - a great company.”
